Prof. Lothar H. Fickert studied electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology where he received his PhD in 1974.
After serving in the Austrian Army he worked in international jobs with ELIN UNION and BROWN BOVERI in the field of power plants and electrical networks. Mr. Fickert acquired system operation expertise with WIENSTROM as protection and utility systems engineer. Since 1998 he served as full professor and the head of the Department for Electrical Power Systems at Graz University of Technology. In 2017 he became professor emeritus and cooperates since then strongly in his field of expertise, protection engineering, with the university. He supervised and co-supervised 49 PhD theses. Further he authored 220 technical papers, holds 10 patents and several honors and awards.
Besides of research, his passion is teaching, so he started a stream about electrical power system protection, which has been viewed 230 000 times, so far.
His national and international activities comprise participation in Austrian, CENELEC, IEC, CIGRE, and CIRED organizations and committees.
Professor Uli Schell's academic background includes studies in Physics from 1975 to 1981, followed by a PhD in “Critical Behaviour of Betaine Arsenate”. Since 1986, he has held positions at BBC as a system analyst, SAP AG as a software developer and methods consultant, and he has been a professor at Kaiserslautern University since 1997. Schell has excelled in teaching and researching areas such as CIM and knowledge-based systems. He has served as the faculty dean of Computer Science and Micro Systems Technologies, the vice president of FH KL, and the president of FH KL from 2003 to 2009. He has been a member of the scientific management of the “Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate” from 2003 to 2023. He is head of the Technical Academy Southwest (TAS) Kaiserslautern and deputy director of the Kaiserslautern College for Intelligent Production at Shanghai DianJi University. Additionally, Schell has authored books on objected-oriented software development with Visual C++, which have been published by Dpunkt Verlag. The books have received positive reviews and have been well-received within the industry. He has also authored several articles on topics such as learning in the industry 4.0 environment and machine learning.
Dr. Jiang Keyuan is the professor and chairman of the Department of Computer Information Technology at Purdue University Northwest. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Southeast University, a master's degree in biomedical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a doctorate in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University in the United States.
